You don't have to be a farmer to help a farming family rebuild.
Adopt-A-Beast is building a network of community-minded people who want to make a real difference for Aussie farmers recovering from crises.
As an Adopt-A-Beast Community Ambassador, you'll help bring our mission into your local community, raising awareness of what we do, building connections and helping generate the support that enables farmers to replenish their breeding livestock and rebuild their herds.
We're inviting applications now for our first small group of Foundational Community Ambassadors, with the program set to get underway in early February 2027.
Apply to be a Community Ambassador
Who we're looking for
We're looking for people who are reliable, proactive and genuinely interested in supporting Aussie farmers recovering from crises. Ideally, they're already involved in their local community or have established connections they can draw on, whether through community groups, local events, sporting clubs, local pubs, businesses or other community activities.
They need to be comfortable talking to people, building relationships and promoting Adopt-A-Beast within their networks. We're looking for people who are willing to get out there and make connections, rather than simply being willing to help in theory.
Farming experience, previous charity experience and formal qualifications aren't required. What matters is a genuine interest in Adopt-A-Beast's mission, community connections or a willingness to build them, and the reliability to follow through.
What we expect from our Community Ambassadors
Our Community Ambassadors play an active role in helping us raise awareness of Adopt-A-Beast and connect with their local communities. All Community Ambassadors are expected to:
Promote and sell raffle tickets
Help promote and sell tickets for our three key annual raffles - Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas. This means more than simply sharing an online link; we ask Community Ambassadors to help get tickets sold through their local networks and connections too.
Share Adopt-A-Beast communications
Share our social media posts, newsletters and other approved materials to help our message reach people beyond Adopt-A-Beast's existing audience.
Champion Adopt-A-Beast locally
Talk positively about our work, raise awareness and introduce Adopt-A-Beast to potential supporters, local businesses, community groups and sponsors.
Help with local media opportunities
Act as a local point of contact for media enquiries, following Adopt-A-Beast's media guidance and referring enquiries requiring an official response to the appropriate Adopt-A-Beast spokesperson.
We also encourage Community Ambassadors to identify local fundraising opportunities that suit their community and connections, such as community events or business partnerships. We'll work with them to explore good ideas and provide guidance and support along the way.
All fundraising activities must be discussed with and approved by Adopt-A-Beast before proceeding.
Support and guidance
Our Community Ambassadors won't be doing it alone. The Community Ambassador Program Manager will be their main point of contact, helping them understand their role, explore ideas and make connections in their local community, with guidance along the way.
We want to get to know the people who are interested in becoming Community Ambassadors and make sure the role is a good fit for everyone. This includes having a chat, checking referees and completing a National Police Check.
Community Ambassadors are trusted members of the Adopt-A-Beast community who help share our story and build connections locally. We'll provide guidance on representing Adopt-A-Beast and handling enquiries, so they feel confident in their role and know when to refer something back to us.
Time commitment and flexibility
The Community Ambassador role is designed to fit around your existing work, family and other commitments. There are no fixed hours or routine meetings, with contact and planning taking place as needed.
We understand that everyone's circumstances are different. We want Community Ambassadors to contribute in ways that work for them, while following through on the core expectations of the role. There may be busier periods around major raffles or local events, but the aim is to keep the role rewarding and fun.
Is it a good fit for you?
You don't need to be a farmer or have charity experience to make a difference. If you're community-minded, enjoy connecting with people and want to help Aussie farmers rebuild after crises, we'd love to hear from you.
